THE BODY YOU DESERVE

It’s easy to start feeling overwhelmed by the number of liposuction techniques all touted as the latest and greatest, whether it’s called “liposculpting” or “body sculpting.” Dr. Tracy Baker and Dr. Jackie Yee maintain a strong philosophy when it comes to performing liposuction at their Miami office: First, the best technique for a patient depends mostly on the area and amount of fat to be extracted. Second, and most importantly, the outcome reflects not just the technique or the instrument, but also the artistic vision, skill, and experience of the physician.

Who is a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

If you look in the mirror at the gym after another hard workout, and the love handles or saddle bags haven’t budged, you are most likely a good candidate for liposuction. If you’re in good health have areas of unwanted fat, liposuction is a safe and effective procedure to achieve the sculpted appearance you are striving for. Good liposuction candidates typically:

  • Are at a healthy, stable weight
  • Have reasonable skin tone
  • Bothered OR concerned with isolated pockets of stubborn fat

Liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. Many patients choose to combine liposuction with tummy tuck or breast augmentation surgery for more comprehensive results.

What to Expect

Procedure Liposuction
Description All liposuction techniques share some basic steps. Small incisions are made and the surgeon suctions fat from beneath the skin using a small tube – called a cannula – that’s attached to a vacuum. In tumescent liposuction, performed by Dr. Baker and Dr. Yee, a solution containing medicine to limit blood loss is injected into the fatty deposits being removed. The technique of tumescent liposuction allows Dr. Baker and Dr. Yee to precisely sculpt the excess fat away from the areas, avoiding irregularities. Using the tumescent procedure significantly reduces bleeding and bruising.
Recovery Recovery from liposuction is easier and quicker than almost any other cosmetic surgery. Most patients are back to work within 5 days. There is minimal discomfort and over-the-counter medications are usually adequate after the first day. At Baker Plastic Surgery, we will provide you with the garments necessary for your recovery. The length of time you will need to wear the garment depends on the amount of sculpting and where it was performed.
