Who are the Best Candidates for Breast Augmentation?
Women from all walks of life choose Baker Plastic Surgery for breast enhancement surgery. Candidates for augmentation are in good health generally, but would like to add volume to their breasts. The reasons vary, but women seeking breast augmentation may:
- Believe their breasts are too small
- Want to improve the way they look in clothes or bathing suits
- Feel larger breasts will balance their proportions
- Have one breast that is smaller than the other
- Have lost breast volume post-pregnancy
If a woman has sagging breasts after pregnancy, or has lost weight, she may elect to have a breast lift performed at the same time as her augmentation surgery.
What to Expect
Researching breast augmentation prior to having surgery can be overwhelming. Your consultation with Dr. Baker or Dr. Yee is a significant step in the decision-making process. Together, you and your surgeon will discuss the look you desire and the optimal way to achieve the best results. During your consultation, the doctor will take the time to discuss your goals. They will review the options available to you when considering breast augmentation. Those choices include size, the incision location, the position of the implant and the type. We offer both silicone and saline implants. Dr. Baker and Dr. Yee will offer their expertise to help guide your decision. Breast augmentation surgery is done using general anesthesia on an outpatient basis at our surgical suite.
Breast augmentation surgery is a safe procedure when performed by experienced, board-certified surgeons such as Dr. Baker and Dr. Yee. It is important, however, to follow the post-operative instructions you'll receive to enhance your recovery. You should be able to walk under your own power before leaving our facility.
It is normal to feel pain and tightness in your chest for 2 to 5 days after surgery. Every patient tolerates pain differently, and Baker Plastic Surgery will ensure your comfort during recovery. Many patients return to work about a week after surgery, although strenuous physical activity should be avoided for several weeks. Also, it is important to get up and move around throughout the recovery period.
